Welcome to Bikram Yoga Paradise Valley. We are so glad you decided to join us. Bikram Yoga practiced on a regular basis is guaranteed to change your life in the most amazing ways.
For the benefit of all our yoga students, we have a compiled a list of things to know before coming to your first Bikram Yoga class.
All classes are 90 minutes, all levels. Please pick any class time that works with your schedule.
Please arrive 25-30 minutes before class to register. Advise your teacher about any particular injuries or health problems you may have.
Wear something cool and comfortable. Women it is best to wear a sports bra or a camisole top with a built in bra and bike shorts. Men wear workout, swim, or bike shorts and a t-shirt. The room is heated, so be prepared to sweat.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day so you are well hydrated before coming to class. Also avoid eating 2-3 hours before class begins.
Yoga mats and large towels are required. If you have them bring them along, otherwise they are available at the studio for rent or purchase.
Bring your own plastic bottle of water. Chilled bottled water is available for purchase at the studio.
You will feel challenged by the yoga during class, everyone does. Always work to your edge, but listen to your body. As a beginner, never be afraid to sit down if you need to. It is normal to feel dizzy or lightheaded. It is temporary, as your body acclimates and detoxes, these sensations will disappear.
Please take time to relax. Observe silence and rest on the floor for a few minutes after class ends. This is your reward for working hard.
Take your second class within 24 hours. The second class is the equivalent of 3 to 4 classes, and you will bypass much of the soreness you’d experience otherwise.
Make up your mind to take 10 classes as quickly as possible. Then no one has to tell you how good this yoga is for you. Your own personal experience will guide you.
